Description Make sure to check out our other ART & PRINTS in our ebay store by clicking the Eagle Antiques store logo above then click the "PAPER: Art & Antique Prints" category in left hand collumn. 1908 Poster: THE WOLF This original poster was made in 1908 for the Broadway play called THE WOLF which opened on April 18 at the Lyric Theatre which was built in 1903.Being very large and made up of what appears to be six seperate sheets, the appoximate size is 4 1/2 feet wide by 6 1/2 feet long and was made by the Inquirer Lithograph Co. out of Cincinnatti, Ohio.The writer of this famous Broadway play was Eugene Walter and the cast on opening night was the following: Sheridan Block; Ida Conquest; William Courtenay; Thomas Findlay; Walter Hale and George Probert. This show about the Canadian frontier was so popular and was such a great success that it wound up having 81 performances (ran from April through June of 1908) and even decades later during the 1920's the play was again on popular radio dramas.Condition: there is water stains going down both sides and numerous edge tears & wear; this was backed with linen for strengthening and was rolled up so there is a lot of creases & fold lines. The Graphics are still quite bright and overall it displays nicely.If you are into very early Broadway plays then this very rare full length poster is ready to be hung on your favorite wall.
