The poster also documents the early days of touring "summer stock" theater. The poster was printed sometime between 1933 and 1935, as indicated by the NRA / National Reccovery Act logo on the poster.  The 1930s saw the demise of vaudeville, which would be followed by the heyday of summer stock theater in the 1940s through 1960s. This touring theater company, the Cooke Players, was "the representative stock company of the South" according to the poster text, although my research has been able to identify the homebase of this theater company. The actors and performers in this theater group include: Katherine Bauer, Bessie Leighton, Mabel Rhodes, Diane Benton, Wallace Morrow, Dan Benton, John Magness, Horace Alexander, Erstyne King, Hal Russell, Baby Jimmie, and Billy Miller. Olney is the county seat of Richland County, Illiniois. The NRA / National Recovery Act Logo: The eagle logo on the poster's reverse side is a logo of the NRA / National Recovery Act. This was a New Deal project, created by President Franklin Roosevelt, to create jobs, support wages and prices, and promote competition. The logo on this poster indicates that the actors were receiving fair wages, etc.  This NRA began in June 1933 and ended May 1935. So this poster was printed sometime during those 2 years. Condition: Very Nice Condition: No library or institution markings.  No previous owners' markings. The poster has never been glued down or fastened down. Poster is bright and clean, with No foxing spots or dampstains. The poster's top margin has a small, half-inch tear, not entering the image. The paper color is lightly toned to an even, light-tan color. The poster has faint hint of seveal horizontal creases where it was folded. Very nice condition throughtout. ---- --Check / Money Order (Credit Card Also Payable to Me By Telephone or Email. ) Check or Money Order Also Accepted. $7.00 priority mailing in U.S. and Canada.
