Description
WE'RE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS: liquidating MEN'S FILM and TELEVISION WARDROBES: suits, shoes, sweaters, dress shirts, ties, blazers. We have to include shipping prices, so we list shipping as $9.99, USPS flat rate, US 48's unless items don't fit the box. ALSO, US 48's smaller items will ALWAYS BE LESS THAN THE LISTED FLAT RATE of $10.99. We never charge handling. SALES ALL END at EBAY completion date - no sales will end prior to. ~ From Carl Laemmles's Universal film, 1932, directed by Karl Freund. This is part of a collection of vintage costume pieces we're sellig for a private UK film buff. This hat is one of five hats used in the film, bought at a sale in the U.K. in 1960. The hat is in great shape considering it's 86 years old. It's been kept on a head shape and in wrapped in tissue. There is one section of the woven matte-straw lining that is cracked (see image). There is make-up all around on the inner sweat band of the fez but no one has ever attempted to touch it. All the Fez's were from the same maker in Jerusalem, Phillipe Akrouk Brothers. ~ This is one of, what seemed to be determined to be, 5 fezs worn by Karloff as Iman-Ho-Tep. Sold from one costume collector to a film memorabilia collector (U.K.). Being the film is b/w I was told the fezs vary in color, size, and use (photo stills, PR, filming uses) but that this fez was for filming. The base is woven straw and is quite beautiful in its craftsmanship. The one area hat is broken has been repaired to maintain shape. Bill of sale from 1960 sale and letter from seller will accompany Fez for winner. ~ We have recently sold a Fred Astair straw boater, some Bob Hope hats to USO Military collector's, and have more high-end personal and collectible items on sale now and in the coming weeks.~ THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:    * GOLD SERIES FOR SUMMER 2008!                       1. Film and TV wardrobes; actor worn, high-end, may need drycleaning. 2. All items sold 'as is', all sales final, no returns. 3. Photos are actual items; super-size for details. 4. Your package will arrive within 10 working days after the date the sale ends. 5. Buyers with any negative feedbacks or bids under 10+ must contact us first or we will delete your bids. 6. **All international buyers; US Customs is ONLY in control of the package UNTIL IT REACHES FOREIGN CUSTOMS' HANDS. US Customs has no control over tracking from that point forward unless you pay for an additional international tracking number from the USPS.                                                                  ~ We CANNOT END SALES prior to their EBay end date. ~   Liz and Dutch On Dec-09-08 at 15:39:20 PST, seller added the following information:We were getting this fez ready to pack and  unwrapping it from all the paper (the tissue is very, very old and there is some Chicago Sun Times packing the hat, from 1963 - 45 years ago). We're trying to be incredibly careful and not disturb anything form the way this was originally packed, but the paper is kind of falling apart in our hands. And we saw another cracked, literally a triangle of straw, missing; 1" diameter by 1/3" apex, behind the sweat band which we never saw before. I took pictures but can't include them since the sale has bidders. INTERESTED BUYERS ONLY may email us at Ebay with an email address and we'll forward the shots. This fez is so old I'm scared to touch it after it was unpacked to photograph, but we thought we needed to include these pictures. Also, a 1.5" x 3/4" very tarnished silver hand fell out of the sweat band. We ARE NOT claiming this is anything to do with the fez OR the film. It just was caught in the sweatband and fell into the tissue in the box, so we'll include it in the final sale since it was in the box. This is very strange to us as we've never sold anything this old or delicate - or this wierd.
