Description
This is an original performance Contract signed by Elvis Presley listed as the Officer of Corporation also signed by J D Sumner listed as the artist or performer. This Historical document has been well preserved and is in Absolute MINT Condition! It has a heading of "AGVA Standard Form Of Artists Engagement Contract" with an archived number at the top right of Bc 67228. The contract is dated May 15th 1975, it is for Elvis Presley Show Tour in various cities for a period of 17 days with a payment for the amount of $13,600.00 The contract is truly worthy of a museum with it's superb condition, it is framed with precision to keep the contract in perfect condition. The frame contains the contract as well as a promotional photo with Elvis Presley and the Stamps vocal group.. The fact that makes this contract so unique is that Elvis personally signed the contract,(even though Colonel Tom Parker or his assistant Tom Disken were authorized to sign these documents). Elvis made a special point to sign this contract because of his long standing friendship and mutual admiration for J D Sumner. Elvis and J D have a relationship that goes back to the period in Elvis life when he used to attend the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis in 1951 to watch the Gospel Singing Group the Blackwood Brothers perform. When Elvis couldn't afford to purchase admission J D Sumner would allow Elvis to enter the auditorium backstage free. Elvis never forgot that kind and gracious hospitality. Years later in 1969 when J D formed his own Gospel Singing Group the Stamps, Elvis hired the group to perform with him on stage performances (Elvis often sang duets with JD). The Stamps along with J D also performed on Tours which the contract up for auction represents the Summer Tour in 1975. J D Sumner and the Stamps also performed on some of Elvis Presley's recordings from 1972 until his untimely death in 1977. J D Sumner and the Stamps sang during Elvis' funeral at the request of his father Vernon Presley. J D Sumner received many gifts from Elvis during his life, some of those items include a $25,000 Tour Bus, a 1976 white Lincoln Continental, a stretch limosine, many pieces of jewelry including rings, watches and necklaces. Because of thier relationship this contract serves as a personal item of interest involving Elvis Presley's life which makes this contract much more valuable than other contracts. I've never seen anything of this quality before. Please enjoy looking at this wonderful artifact and understand that a very reasonable reserve has been placed on this item.
